Advancement Program Audit

In many instances, organizations contact us with questions about the overall effectiveness of their advancement programs. Due to our long history with a wide range of non-profit organizations and the executive experiences of our consultants, GGTS can effectively benchmark the fundamental elements of your advancement program and provide unique insights into how your advancement efforts can be strengthened.

Our advancement audit analyzes and provides recommendations for an organization's entire advancement program, including:

  • Assessing the clarity of the organizational mission statement;
  • The relationship of the mission statement with the strategic plan;
  • The alignment of advancement goals with that strategic plan;
  • Support from Board members and other volunteers in the advancement program;
  • The effectiveness of public relations and marketing in creating a climate where fundraising can be successful;
  • The annual giving, major gifts, and planned gifts programs; and,
  • The capacity, capability, and structure of the advancement staff.

An Advancement Audit is typically completed in 90 to 120 days. It involves a review of materials requested in advance from the institution, in-depth interviews with advancement staff and key administrators and discussions with members of key constituencies. The process results in a written report that details our findings and provides recommendations for future action.
