Douglas D. Mason has over 20 years of experience
in institutional advancement. He joined Gonser
Gerber Tinker Stuhr in 1992 and became a partner
in 1995. He provides consulting services in the areas
of annual, capital, endowment and planned-giving programs,
strategic planning, Board development, admissions, financial
aid, public relations, and integrated marketing. His
clients have included colleges, universities, hospitals,
independent and Catholic schools, associations, and
social service organizations. He frequently facilitates
and speaks to governing Boards and development professionals
nationally.

Mr. Mason has a B.A. degree in music education from Wartburg
College, a masters degree in Educational Administration, and
an Education Specialist degree from Drake University. He is
also a graduate of Harvard's Institute for Educational Management.
Before joining Gonser Gerber Tinker
Stuhr, he served as Vice President
for Advancement, Vice President for Student Life and Dean
of Students and as Director of Admissions during his tenure
at his alma mater Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa. Under his
leadership, Wartburg College gift income doubled, an ongoing
program of major gifts was established, an integrated marketing
team was built, and enrollment grew by 35%.
An active speaker and lecturer, Mr. Mason has been on programs for the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC), Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and Association of Lutheran Development Executives (ALDE). He has been an adjunct faculty member of the Philanthropy and Development master’s program of St. Mary’s University of Minnesota in Winona, Minnesota. Mr. Mason is a member of ALDE, CASE, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), and the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP).
